Look closely. Do you see the big smile on Sahar’s face? The beautiful, honest smile seems to permanently shine off of her face. A giant contrast with her teenage years.
“Oh, I was so stubborn! My parents had no control over me, that’s why I lived with my grandparents. Still, I felt very lonely and started to smoke joints to forget everything. Sadly, I dropped into a depression and eventually – because of the weed – into a psychosis.” With her mother, she visits a pastor, who organizes ‘miracle services’. “And there I was touched by Jesus. I felt warmth and love.
Relationship
Did my problems just vanish? Of course not! Because without battle, no victory!” Thus, she started to get therapy and fixed the relationship with her parents. She receives a lot of support from her boyfriend. “Do you know where we bumped into each other, almost fifteen years ago? In the uh… coffeeshop! I saw Mohammed standing there and fell head over heels for him."
Sahar lived in Krommenie with her husband and three kids until the beginning of June. She is half Egyptian and half Surinamese; her husband is Moroccan.
